Eclipse lunar, Feb.2008

Fotos de la luna vista desde la Cd. de México, primero un par de días antes del eclipse del 20 de febrero pasado, cuando aún no estaba totalmente llena, y luego en los momentos de la totalidad. Nótense las 2 estrellas cercanas (fotos tomadas con una Nikon D40 y zoom de 200 mm, equivalente a 300 en cámara de 35 mm). Aquí hay un video (no mío) del eclipse hecho con fotos tomadas cada 5 minutos.
Shots of the moon, as seen from Mexico City, first a couple of days (with an almost full moon) before the eclipse of this last 20th of February, and then at the moment of the eclipse (notice the two nearby stars). The pics were taken with a Nikon D40 camera and a 200 mm zoom, equivalent to 300 mm in a 35 mm camera. Here's a nice video (not mine) of the eclipse made from pictures taken every 5 minutes.

"Los volcanes", Feb.2008

Algunos "avistamientos" más del Popocatépetl y el Iztaccíhuatl desde la ciudad de México; en estas fotos ajusté el contraste para hacerlos más visibles. En la primera foto (20) pueden verse ambos (el Izta a la izq.). Nótense los surcos en el pavimento (foto 29) de esta entrada a la ciudad, por donde llegan muchos trailers de carga desde la autopista a Querétaro.
Other "sightings" of the Popocatépetl and the Iztaccíhuatl in Mexico City; the contrast was tweaked in these shots to increase visibility. See if you can find the Izta in the first photo (No. 20), to the left. Notice the grooves on the tarmac (photo 29) at this entry to the city, caused mainly by the numerous trucks (lorries) coming from the Querétaro highway.
